Waste-Free Wednesdays!

The Henking Environmental Team
is kicking off a "waste-free" lunch program

The first Wednesday of every month will be a Waste-Free Wednesday" lunch day for all students. This means children who bring their lunch should have everything in their lunch packed in reusable containers. A thermos would be a great option instead of sending juice boxes or plastic water bottles. Some other waste-free ideas:

  • Reusable lunch box/bag (no paper bags)

  • Reusable TupperwareTM or plastic containers for sandwiches, fruit and snacks

  • Cloth napkins

  • Reusable silverware or utensils

We will be establishing an incentive program for children who participate.

Being a part of Waste-Free Wednesdays is an important part of being on the "Green Team" here at Henking School.

To help us be more successful, we need parent volunteers to help supervise our Waste-Free Wednesdays during the lunch hour (noon - 1:00 p.m.) Please contact Melissa Walsh to help out or if you have any questions or ideas.
