Holiday Helper Program

Each year around the holidays we help families from our schools that can use a little extra to make their holiday's more special. To assist, we ask that families help in one or more of the following ways...

Did you know there are many families among us whose children come to school ill equipped for winter weather due to financial needs? There are! That's why the Henking/Hoffman PTA is once again sponsoring the HOLIDAY HELPER Program, which assists needy families in our school cluster during the holidays.
But WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Here's how it works:
The Henking/Hoffman PTA and many kind families and individuals in our cluster provide a winter hat, gloves, snow pants if needed, winter coat if needed, a book, and a small holiday gift item to each child within the participating families. Each family also receives a box of food, collected during our Food Drive , which is now running, and a grocery store gift certificate.

This program's success depends on the generosity of families in our community. We are expecting to serve over approximately 80 families this year! We hope that our school community’s outstanding tradition of sharing will continue this Holiday Season.

Please consider helping your neighbor this year. You can choose to help in any of the following ways:

1.SPONSOR A FAMILY - Provide a holiday gift, book, hat and gloves for children under 18 years old. Snow pants for younger children, if requested, and a grocery store gift certificate for the entire family. A small gift for the adults in the family is optional! If coats are requested, this is also optional. We will provide them if the sponsoring family can not.

2. SPONSOR A CHILD - Provide a holiday gift, book, hat and gloves for an individual child, as well as snow pants, if requested.

3. DONATE FOOD - For several weeks in November and through December, we will collect food at Lyon and Pleasant Ridge schools. We will use the donated food to make food boxes for each family.

4. DONATE A GROCERY STORE CERTIFICATE - Donate a gift certificate from Dominick’s or Jewel in any amount.

5. DONATE MONEY - We will use donated money to buy grocery store gift certificates, gifts, hats and gloves, snow pants, and coasts for families for whom we do not have full sponsorship. Checks may be made out to “Henking/Hoffman PTA .”

6. DONTATE OUTERWEAR - just in time for the cold weather, the PTA helps provide the right items to keep our kids warm.

While we greatly appreciate receiving any donation, at this time we are especially looking for families, groups or organizations that would like to sponsor a family or an individual child. Team up with a friend or neighbor to share a family sponsorship!! If you are interested in being a sponsor, please call as soon as possible. We will send you specific guidelines for sponsorship.
