Check out the Henking Butterfly Garden

Something for all our senses!

Come help on May 13, 2010 at 5:30p.m.

Tucked just outside of the northwest corner of Henking School is a special place where students can learn how things grow.

Spring is here, which means the butterflies should be making their way
back north and will need a place to eat and rest. For the past few years, the
Henking Butterfly Garden -- located on the southwest corner of the
school -- has provided a natural rest stop for our winged friends and for
those of us who just enjoy a nice place to see the critters and flowers.
Tended to and provided by PTA volunteers, the garden is full of butterfly
attracting plants, many native to our area, that provide splashes of color
throughout the spring, summer and fall.
Many more volunteers are needed to help prepare and plant in the garden on Thursday, May 13th, 5:30pm. Please bring a garden trowel, shovel, or gardening gloves. RSVP to John Antonoglu, johnglu@wowway.com.
We would also love plant donations. We welcome your additions of any low-maintenance, drought tolerant perennials, especially butterfly weed, asters, coreopsis, coneflowers, blazingstar bergamot (Monarda), black or brown-eyed susans, salvia, joe pye (Eupatorium), phlox, stonecrop (Sedum),
milkweed, pincushion flower, Indian blanket flower (Gaillardia), verbena, oregano, chives, thyme.
Please drop off your plants on May 13 at 5:30pm or make arrangements with John if your
schedule requires a different time.

For further information, please contact Committee Chairperson: John Antonoglu,
johnglu@wowway.com or (847) 724-5953.
