Summary of Book Fair Events and Programs
Classroom Preview
As always, students will get a chance to preview the book fair with their class.  Parents are invited to join their child and shop with them on Wednesday November 4th.  Click HERE for the class preview times.
Vote For Books
When students visit the Learning Center at the end of October, they will have 3 different books read to them.  They will then vote for the book they like most.  The winning book will be announced and will be available for purchase at the Book Fair!
Teacher Wish Lists
When visiting the Book Fair there will be an opportunity to buy a book for your child’s classroom that each teacher has requested and put in their “wish basket”.  Teachers will preview the book fair and will offer their recommendations for good books for your child’s age group.
Pizza Dinner
On Wednesday evening, join other Henking families for pizza and entertainment from Magic by Randy from 5:45-7:15pm.  There will be two seatings and shows - 5:45pm and 6:30pm.  Don’t forget to save some time for shopping at the Book Fair.  Click HERE for the reservation form.
Grand Persons Night
A great program now in its 3rd year in which we are encouraging children to bring a Grandparent (or someone who fills that role) to the Book Fair on Thursday, November 5th from 5:00-7:00pm.  A great way for your child to spend some quality time with that special person in their lives.  You can find an invitation that your child can use to invite someone special by clicking HERE.

ONE FOR BOOKS

We are so excited to be bringing back the One for Books program this year.  Last year Henking School participated and it was a great success.  Students donate loose change and the total collected is matched by Scholastic dollar for dollar.  All of the money collected goes directly to purchasing more books for our school.  In addition, Scholastic will match the monetary donations raised with a donation of up to one million books to three non-profit organizations dedicated to helping kids in need.  They include Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc., National Center for Family Literacy and Toys for Tots.

As part of Character Counts, we urge you to take this opportunity to have your child earn the loose change by doing a good deed or chore around the house.  Please have your child bring in the loose change and make their mark on the One for Books Map of the World.
